CSISD Closing Pebble Creek Elementary Due to Probable Case of H1N1

By  |

CSISD is shutting down Pebble Creek Elementary through Friday because of a highly probable case of H1N1.

School officials say they were advised by the Brazos County Health Department to shut down the campus.

The rest of the district will remain open at this time.

CSISD released this statement Monday night:

Based on the recommendation of the Brazos County Health Department (BCHD), Pebble Creek Elementary School will be temporarily closed beginning Tuesday, May 5, 2009 through Friday, May 8, 2009 due to a highly probable case of the H1N1 flu.

Late this afternoon, the BCHD received the results of a flu test taken on April 25, 2009. The results indicate that the student is highly probable to have the H1N1 flu. The temporary school closing is a preemptive measure recommended by the health department to prevent any further transmission of the flu virus and follows the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

While the student's symptoms were mild, the BCHD recommends closure for the remainder of this week based on the incubation period for this flu.

CSISD will continue to work with the Brazos County Health Department.

Also, the Kids Klub After-School Program will be closed through
Friday, May 8, 2009 as well.
