Congressman Chet Edwards is seeking a ninth term in Congress, but his work during the last eight has apparently made him among the most powerful in the House.
According to the Knowlegis Power Rankings for 2006, Edwards (D-District 17) was listed as the 41st most powerful member of the House of Representatives. That's up 41 places from the last rankings.
Edwards is also the ninth most powerful Democrat, and the fourth most powerful Texas representative.
If Edwards is reelected and the Democrats were to take control of the House, it is projected that he would become the 13th most powerful person in the House.
Republican Van Taylor is opposing Edwards in the November elections.
