AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas concealed handgun license holders could carry weapons into public college classrooms and dorms under a bill that has cleared the Texas Senate.
But in a last-minute change, the legislation exempts teaching hospitals run by institutions of higher education.
The bill passed 19-12 Wednesday and now heads to the Texas House. Supporters say the bill reinforces the constitutional right to bear arms and could prevent mass murders such as the 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech.
Opponents say it would make campuses more dangerous.

More guns with non criminals makes a area safer. Something anti-freedom gun control nut Sen.Steve Ogden does not understand. Name one time we had a mass shooting at a Gun show, Gun store, Gun range, NRA sponsored event and dinner. We have NRA events all the time across the US. We also do not have any crime problems at any event in any city in The US. WHY? If politico gun control liberals like Steve Ogden had his way we would all be sitting ducks in guaranteed slaughter zones called no gun zones and Crime and drug free zones. Gun control Ogden will never get 1 vote from my family again. Let make sure he is unemployed.

Guaranteed slaughter zones is what Liberal anti-Gun and anti-freedom Senator Ogden voted for with his Democrat friends. This anti-self protection vote is now a wake up call for Dist-5 voting republicans. We know now what he is and may need to stop Ogden before he could push more rejection of the new Texas Republican party plank. We now have to worry about what other Parts of the Texas Republican party and Nation Republican party he rejects and has been working against. He still has a few more days of voting to go in Austin and Ogden could do more damage to the GOP of Texas. Possible at the National level. We may need to call other GOP Senators to stop him and some of his bills that he supports. We all need to investigate what he is doing in our name.
