Suspects Caught Minutes After Bryan Robbery

Suspects in yet another robbery attempt in Bryan were picked up by police soon after the crime thanks to a clerk's quick call to 911.

According to Bryan Police, at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a masked black male carrying a handgun entered the Central Texas Loans store on South Main Street. The man did not make off with any money, and the clerk quickly called police.

Authorities were quickly able to locate the getaway vehicle at FM 2818 and University Drive. Sherord White, 18, and Chuntay Burnatte, 28, were detained by police and later arrested after questioning. Both are charged with attempted aggravated robbery.

An investigation continues as to whether this robbery is connected to others that have taken place lately at convenience stores in the city. Since early October, there have been seven other armed robberies at stores.

White and Burnatte are both Bryan residents, though Burnatte had apparently just moved to the area from California according to police.

Attempted aggravated robbery is a second degree felony charge.
