AUSTIN -- Kinky Friedman is hoping for a long night.
That would mean the independent would still be close and have a chance for victory over Republican Rick Perry, Democrat Chris Bell and independent Carole Keeton Strayhorn.
A victory would make Friedman the first independent governor of
Texas in more than 150 years.
The 62-year-old Friedman says he found campaigning invigorating and not unlike performing music.
As for his chances, he says, "It's really up to Texas. It's really not up to me."
