DALLAS -- Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison has won a third term in the US Senate. Hutchison was challenged by Democrat Barbara Ann Radnofsky.

Hutchison is a President Bush loyalist who ranks fifth in the Republican leadership in the Senate -- as vice chairwoman of the Republican caucus.

The 63-year-old senator is a former Houston television reporter who served in the Legislature and as state treasurer. She was the first woman from Texas elected to the US Senate.
