An accused holder of child pornography who fled the Twin Cities when a warrant was issued for his arrest was transported back to Brazos County, but has bonded out of jail.

Gregg Baird bonded out of Brazos County Jail at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, a little more than six hours after he was booked in. He had been sitting in the Brewster County jail since his arrest near the West Texas town of Alpine Tuesday.

Authorities there say Baird's bond was originally set at $140,000 for the seven counts of child porn he faced, but that was later increased to $280,000 by a Brazos County justice of the peace.

However, according to Brazos County's online jail records, Baird's bond was $70,000, or $10,000 for each of the charges.

Baird, 38, faces seven counts of possession of child porn. The warrant was issued Monday for his arrest, but College Station PD learned Baird had left the area. A DPS trooper pulled Baird over Tuesday and found his arms bloody.

The trooper said Baird had admitted to cutting his wrists the night before. He was treated at a local medical facility before going to jail.

Following a tip, it was a search warrant at Baird's home on Ravenstone in College Station that authorities say turned up the images of children engaging in sex acts. He was reportedly out of the area at the time. When police went to arrest him Monday, authorities say notes they found indicated he had left Bryan/College Station.

Baird was an active community member in addition to his role as a vice president at Aggieland Credit Union. He was very involved in local Rotary Club activities.
