A cold front will approach the Brazos Valley later today. Isolated areas of rain and thunderstorms could develop along and ahead of that front between mid-afternoon and early evening. Good news: rain & storm activity will be quick moving (1 hour or less). Bad news: a few severe thunderstorms are possible with large hail and strong, damaging winds being the main concern. A brief, isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out, as well.
A day after Texas A&M President Robert Gates was selected by President Bush to head up the Department of Defense, Aggie students have taken on a homework assignment to show him their gratitude.
"Texas A&M's loss is the nation's gain," is a familiar refrain echoed around campus.
It's also the motivation behind tomorrow's campus-wide write-in campaign, where Aggies are encouraged to compose notes of thanks to the outgoing president.
Tables and supplies will be located at Rudder Plaza, Wehner, H-2-0 Fountain, Blocker, Academic Plaza, the Commons, and the Quad Arches.
The notes will then be compiled into a book and be presented to Dr. Gates.
