As News 3 first reported Sunday night, Gregg Baird, the College Station man accused of having child porn, was brought back to Brazos County, but bonded out of jail.

When a warrant was issued for Baird's arrest, bond had been set at $140,000. The bond was raised to $280,000 while he sat in Brewster County Jail, but was lowered to $70,000 upon his return to Bryan. That's when the 38-year-old bonded out of Brazos County Jail.

We're now learning Baird's attorney had filed legal paperwork to get bond lowered from $280,000 when it was still set at that amount, and that a hearing had been set for Tuesday morning in district court for the state to argue against a lowering. Obviously, before those proceedings could take place, bond was slashed.

According to Brazos County's online records, Justice of the Peace Tommy Munoz was responsible for Baird's bond. He was out of the office when News 3 called Tuesday afternoon.

Baird faces seven counts of possession of child pornography. Authorities believe he fled the area after a warrant was issued for his arrest. When a deputy near the West Texas town of Alpine stopped Baird, authorities say he was bleeding, having slit his wrists.

My children will no longer be allowed out of our house or back yard without adult supervision. They will not even be able to go to the car without me standing by.

"he should never have been allowed to leave that jail until he had done some time." Did I miss his trial by jury and conviction? Or are we into the "Hang him now, THEN hold the trial" mentality? I trust the GPS trackers and assume they've got his computer monitored, so it's probably cheaper to keep him out of the county jail than in, and he's pretty well locked up in his own house.

Be careful what you say about pedophiles! HR 1913 protects them in "hate speech" legislation. What about "pedophilia rights"? How much longer before we have "pedophilia rights parades".
