Puppets Prep Kids For Thanksgiving Day

Making sure every student has a happy Thanksgiving holiday is the aim of a partnership between Bryan ISD and Wal-Mart this year. And today, that effort got underway with an entertainment extravaganza for students at Carver Head Start and Kemp Elementary.

Children's entertainer, Joe Scruggs arrived from Austin with a few of his puppet friends to perform a couple of shows packed with music and comedy. Pre-school and kindergarten kids were all smiles as the laughed and sang with Scruggs and his crazy companions.

But today was only a precursor for the big event on Thanksgiving Day. On Thanksgiving Day, Wal-Mart, Carver and Kemp will co-host a huge Thanksgiving Feast. The dinner will be held at the Carver Early Childhood Center on Martin Luther King.

Both the fun and food are part of a community outreach project by the two Bryan schools and Wal-Mart to ensure economically disadvantaged families in Bryan do not have to go without this holiday season.
