The city is now 135, and to celebrate, they held a birthday party at Sue Haswell Park Saturday.

People were invited out to enjoy free food, drinks, games, and of course birthday cake.

An interesting note -- the city of Bryan was established in 1871, which is the same year the Texas legislature established Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas.

Other items of note from year 1871 -- Charles Darwin wrote "The Descent of Man" and proposed that humans evolved from animals.

Also, the famed Great Fire left thousands of residents of Chicago homeless.

And one half of the Wright Brothers, Orville, was born. He and Wilber would take flight just over three decades later.
