Twin Cities' PDs Earn Accreditation Honors

Representatives from Bryan PD are back from a conference in Reno, Nevada, and they've brought a major accolade.

The department has now been officially accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Only around 500 agencies in North America have received the honor, and only 24 in the state of Texas.

In addition, Chief Mike Strope was awarded with the James V. Cotter award, which is only given to chiefs who lead three or more agencies to accreditation.

Strope headed up College Station's efforts to be accredited, as well as Peoria, Arizona. He is only the fourth person ever to win the award.

College Station PD's communication division also earned re-accreditation from the commission, and the department has been recognized as a flagship agency.
