Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, across the Brazos Valley, Saturday afternoon and evening. Winds in excess of 40-60mph are the main concern, within the strongest activity. An isolated, brief tornado threat cannot be ruled out. Heavy rainfall between 1" and 3" has the potential to cause localized flash flooding in a few locations.
A Buffalo man was killed Monday in an early morning accident in Leon County.
The accident happened around 6:15 a.m., less than a mile north of Jewett on Highway 79.
21-year-old Raymond Harrison was driving north on Highway 79, when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the back of an 18-wheeler, according to DPS Trooper John Franks.
That caused Harrison to collide head-on with another car that was driving behind the 18-wheeler.
Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other car was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Harrison was reportedly weaving on the road prior to the accident, and alcohol or fatigue may have played a role in the crash, according to Trooper Franks.
The accident remains under investigation.
