St.Joseph Regional Health Center, in Bryan, has just been named among 45 facilities in the state as an accredited chest pain center.
There are only 303 accredited centers in the nation. The announcement means St. Joseph has proven itself against the best national standard for heart care.
The Society of Chest Pain Centers, the organization that accredited St. Joseph, says some of the areas the Bryan facility excels in are quick assessment and treatment of patients, effective treatment and personnel training.
The hospital also supports community outreach programs, which help educate the public about symptoms and signs of possible heart attacks.
The Bryan facilities Chest Pain Center accreditation runs through May, 31 2009.
The Society of Chest Pain Centers is in Columbus, Ohio. Its mission is to improve care for patients with acute coronary syndromes. To fulfill that goal, the society provides accreditation to facilities which strive for optimum chest pain care.
