Helping Others, One Step at a Time

Some caring A&M medical students proved they not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk.

The Health Science Center Group wanted to lend helping hands, and feet, to those who can't afford health care. That led to the idea to have each person walk 10,000 steps a day as a fundraiser.

Members solicited sponsorships, and then set out on foot two months ago.

Wednesday, the team presented a check for $5,100 to the Health for All Clinic, a medical organization that provides free health care.

Organizers estimate they walked more than 17,000,000 steps in all, enough to make it all the way to Alaska and back.
