A&M Regents Set to Talk About Interim President

By  |

As Texas A&M President Robert Gates heads to Washington, the System Board of Regents is wasting no time in the search for a replacement.

The regents have scheduled a special telephonic meeting for Monday at 3:30 p.m., with the only item on the agenda being to consider an interim president for Texas A&M.

Because it is a personnel matter, the matter will be considered behind closed doors. Any action will be announced following that meeting.

Gates will be sworn in as the new secretary of defense Monday, at which time he will step down as A&M's president.
