A Southeast Texas man and his wife were in jail Thursday after a state inspector found six children locked in tool shed behind an unlicensed daycare center.
State officials say the children were surrounded by lawn equipment, gasoline and insecticide when they were found Wednesday.
Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn says Marietta Patek, 55, is charged with six counts of child endangerment, while her husband, Freddie Patek, 47, faces an evidence tampering charged.
Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter says 14 children ranging from toddlers to preteens were kept at the house.
She says the Pateks could legally care only for three children at a time.

I hope the justice doesn't fail the parents. Hopefully the system will throw the maximum sentence onto these two idiots. What and the heck were they thinking? Oh wait, apparently they weren't. Another reason why public executions should come back.
This is unspeakable. Horror at its absolute worse. The fact that this sitter was keeping 14 kids should have been a sign. Regardless, they better be glad it wasnt my children. Parents please, chhose carefully, and wisely. Cheaper isnt better, if you have to leave them, please be ever so careful who you chose. My heart and prayers are with these little ones.
This is why I worry about putting my daughter in a daycare. There are always too many kids for too little people running the daycare.
