The Texas A&M Athletic department has made staff cuts. Sources have confirmed to KBTX Billy Pickard and Dave South were affected by the job cuts. Pickard was the Director of Facilities. South who serves as the voice of the Aggies will move to a part time position.
Chris Harrell confirmed to KBTX he was one of the people let go. Harrell was a member of the Texas A&M Sports Information Department for over ten years. His equestrian and women's swimming and diving media guides were voted ‘Best in the Nation’ at last month's College Sports Information Directors of America convention in San Antonio.
Director of Athletics Billy Byrne released the following statement.
“The Texas A&M University Athletic Department is facing difficult economic decisions like many companies and universities across the United States. Charged by the University to reduce the budget by $4.5 million for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, our goal was to make spending cuts that would not impact the competitiveness of our teams and to ensure that our student athletes have a good experience here at Texas A&M.
We were able to identify $3.5 million in cuts without reducing personnel. Unfortunately, today the Athletic Department had to eliminate 17 positions to balance the budget. The cuts came across the entire spectrum of the department. This difficult decision came after an exhaustive review of the entire program and with great reluctance.”

To Obama Supporter...Obama is easy to ridicule primarily because the man is totally ignorant or just doesn't care to do what would really make this country's economy strong. All he wants is total government control of all aspects of our lives and I am here to tell you now, Obama Supporter, when or if that happens you will understand why so many of us do not respect him as the president and never will. The president of this country should be doing what is right for the country. Instead Obama only does what is right for his party and his liberal agenda. The president of this country should have enough book smarts to know that fascism, socialism, and communism have NEVER, EVER worked and for him to try to take us down one of those roads will be a total disaster. But, I pray for Obama that he will truly give his heart to Jesus Christ because right now he is blind and only the Lord can help him see.

To Aggie Lady 02, Susan and supporters: It never fails, whatever the topic of discussion is, you will find a way to ridule Obama. It could be something as meaningless as "what color is the sky today" and you will find a way to try to bring down "our" president. Get over it already people, he is your President as well as mine, so you might as well SUCK IT UP and move on. The issue at hand was and is about people losing their jobs. Did Mr. President Obama actually call to your beloved TAMU and personally tell Mr. Byrne to fire these individuals, probably not. Too those of you who lost your jobs, trust in the Lord and He will make a way.
