Several pest control companies in the Brazos Valley are treating homes infested with small black ants, fire ants, termites, bed bugs, and scorpions in some cases. "Bugs No More" owner Jay White, says homeowners should seal off cracks around windows and doorways to prevent pests from gaining entry into your home.
RP Lee Pest and Termite Control offers these additional tips:
Clean, sweep, mop, keep the stove and counter tops clean, and vacuum regularly.
Keep food picked up, bagged, and sealed in containers.
Keep trash outside in a closed container, wash out weekly.
Rinse jars and containers before you throw them away.
Keep dog/cat food picked up when not feeding and in a closed container.
Keep your home picked up and not cluttered.
Seal all doors and windows.
Fix all leaks inside and out.
Keep foliage trimmed back away from the home.
Keep at least 2" 's of slab showing around the foundation.
Don't store supplies, lumber, bricks, or debris next to the home.
Keep firewood off the ground and away from the home.
Keep wood decks off the ground to allow ventilation under it.
Allow ventilation in crawl spaces under homes.
