A much needed holiday boost to the blood bank was delivered to at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. The health center and the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center held an impromptu blood drive on Wednesday.
The blood drive was in response to an overwhelming desire from local citizens to donate blood during the holidays. At least 55 residents and St. Joseph employees rolled up their sleeves to donate blood.
St. Joseph representatives said they had a record number of first time donors. The blood drive was a success, 35 units of blood was collected. And for those who were unable to participate in this blood drive, another drive has been tentatively scheduled for February.
