The Texas A&M Foundation Board of Trustees announced that John Stropp will serve as interim president of the Foundation while Dr. Ed Davis is on leave to serve as interim president of Texas A&M University. Stropp will direct all Foundation activities, and Jim Palincsar, senior vice president for development, will continue to lead the organization’s fundraising operations.
Stropp, a 1966 graduate of Texas A&M University, has served as senior vice president for administration and operations of the Foundation since 1997. In that role he has provided leadership to senior staff; coordinated board/committee meetings; directed investments, finance, real estate and human resource activities; and worked closely with the executive staff and Board of Trustees to establish and implement policy.
Stropp joined the Foundation in 1984 as vice president for finance and administration after almost 20 years in industry. During his time at the Foundation, assets have grown from $70 million to more than $1.1 billion.
The Foundation leads the One Spirit One Vision campaign, which will conclude on Dec. 31, 2006. As of Nov. 30, the seven-year campaign has raised $1.41 billion in support of Texas A&M University.
The Texas A&M Foundation’s fundraising and asset management staff work with donors to invest in the Aggie Spirit through academic excellence. During the past fiscal year, the Foundation raised more than $95 million in support of the university. Assets under management reached $1.1 billion as of June 30, 2006. The Foundation’s efforts enhance Texas A&M University's capability to be among the best universities so that its graduates and faculty can impact the state, nation and world.
