A more than 16 hour search on Lake Somerville near Apache Hills in Burleson County ended around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, when searchers discovered the body of a missing 45-year-old fisherman from Arkansas.

Game Warden Sophie Hyatt with Texas Parks & Wildlife says three friends started laying trout lines in the water around 2:30 a.m., when the 10 foot boat the man was in capsized.

Once the two friends lost sight of the fisherman's light and all communication ceased, Hyatt says the two other men feared their friend had drowned and they called 911. Following the call for help, a spotlight search of the area began immediately.

At daybreak, boats from the Army Corps of Engineers, Birch Creek State Park and Texas Parks & Wildlife were launched and crews on board, with the help of members from the Somerville Volunteer Fire Department, began dragging the lake.

The man's body was found about 100 yards from where the small boat had capsized. The victim's name has not been released, but News 3 has learned an autopsy has been ordered.

Apache Hills is located northeast of Lake Somerville's Welch Park.

First my condolences to the family of DP. He was a great guy and helped many in their time of need. And yes we have all made a bad judgement call in our life, but in this trying time, please be more tactful with your comments. No one in this world is perfect. So remember and pray for the family who has lost a love one.
