A Bryan teacher is out on bond after being arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child.
MSgt (Ret) Ricky Ray James, 49, was arrested Monday on a direct indictment issued by a Brazos County grand jury.
James, a College Station resident and Bryan High Junior ROTC instructor, is accused of having a sexual affair with a 16-year-old student. The student told College Station police in November that for nine months, James would pick her up from school and take her to his apartment.
James was placed on administrative leave from BISD back in November when a complaint first reached the district.
If convicted, he could face up 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
