A routine traffic stop turned into an extensive man hunt Tuesday in Burleson County.
According to sheriff officials around 9:45 a.m., a highway patrolman tried to stop a truck speeding on Highway 21.
But as soon as he flashed his lights, the vehicle went off the highway, down County Road 229, over nearby railroad tracks and into the brush.
That's when officials believe the driver, a man, and his female passenger fled on foot.
"There's thicket, woods, water, and you got everything in this area to make it difficult to find someone," Stroud said.
A perimeter had been set up surrounding the area, but without any luck the search was called off around 3 p.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the situation.
At this time police are not releasing names or descriptions of the subjects.
