A man accused of repeatedly stabbing a five-year-old girl with an ice pick is facing capital murder charges.
Twenty-one-year-old Michael Eugene Moorman of Morgan is accused of stabbing the girl in the chest and then stabbing himself. Waco police arrested him yesterday after he was released from a hospital.
The Waco Tribune-Herald is reporting on its Web site that the girl is in stable condition at a hospital.
Police say Moorman followed the girl into the Sanger Avenue Laundry Superstore restroom Monday, then stabbed her 10 times in the chest with an ice pick. Family members and other customers heard the girl screaming and found Moorman stabbing himself 11 times in the chest.
Police say Moorman is not related to the child.
