Appeals are pending as Carlos Granados faces execution tonight over a 1998 deadly stabbing in Georgetown during a domestic dispute.
The victim was his girlfriend's three-year-old son -- Anthony Jiminez.
Katherine Jiminez suffered from some two dozen stab wounds -- but survived to testify against Granados.
She plans to witness the execution and represent her slain son.
Granados is the first of five Texas death row inmates scheduled to be executed this month in Huntsville.
The U.S. Supreme Court last month refused to review the Granados case.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles rejected his clemency request.
