Officials in the East Texas town of Paris plan to line the streets with American flags Thursday to honor a Marine who died in Afghanistan.
A hearse carrying the body of Marine Sgt. Jay Hoskins, 24, is expected to make the six-mile journey Thursday from a local airstrip to a funeral home in Paris, about 90 miles northeast of Dallas.
Hoskins died last week with two fellow Marines when a roadside bomb exploded in Farah province.
The Paris Kiwanis Club is distributing 500 large flags on 10-foot poles, and the football coach at the local high school told The Paris News that he expects hundreds of students to line the route.
The funeral procession is expected to include all local law enforcement agencies and Patriot Guard motorcycle riders.
Hoskins, who was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, died last Thursday during combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan.
Lance Cpl. James D. Argentine, 22, of Farmingdale, N.Y., Lance Cpl. Travis T. Babine, 20, of San Antonio and Cpl. Christian A. Guzman Rivera, 21, of Homestead, Fla. also died.

God bless him for his service. Way to go Paris, TX, for honoring him and his family for thier service and sacrifice.
I love to hear stories such as this one! It reminds me of the community in Madisonville that lined the streets for fallen marine Bobby Twitty in 2007. Thanks to our soldiers for all they do!
May the families of the brave fallen find comfort, and purpose, and know peace. SEMPER FI Marines!
