Wildfire Burning in Madison County Near North Zulch
Wildfires are burning in Madison County near North Zulch. Volunteer firefighters are battling at least three blazes near FM 13721 and Lonestar Rd.

At least three grass fires in Madison County near North Zulch burned over 150 acres. Volunteer firefighters from North Zulch, Normangee, Madisonville,Flynn were called to bring the blaze under control. The fires were centered around FM 1372 and Lonestar Road.
Fourteen houses, nine outbuildings, and two oil storage units were threatened and saved. The fire came within 15 feet of an elderly couple's home before volunteers were able put out the flames.
Texas Forest Service Air Attack Aircraft and a Type 2 helicopter responded.
Firefighters will continue to monitor the area to make sure hot spots don't flare back up.
The fires were contained at 4:56 pm Friday.
