A mistrial has been declared in the case of a former Bryan truant officer accused of sexual misconduct with students. After nearly nine hours of deliberations Tuesday, it was determined the jury was hopelessly deadlocked in the case of Mark Haynes, 35.
Haynes was on trial for solicitation to commit sexual assault and indecency with a child. He was arrested in November of 2002 after being accused of inappropriate activities with two high school students and showing pornography to other minors. A spokesman for the Brazos County District Attorney says the retrial could take place as soon as February.
