A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Montgomery, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties until 7am SUNDAY. 1" to 3" of rain, with localized totals between 5" & 7" will be possible as a slow moving, weak cold front arrives through early Sunday.
If you're traveling Highway 6 this weekend, watch out for lane closures.
Starting Saturday, January 27 and throughout the week the northbound lanes of South Highway 6 between Greens Prairie to Texas World Speedway could have lane closures.
The temporary lane closures are necessary for the Texas Department of Transportation to reinstate traffic onto the main lanes of South Hwy 6 from the current construction detour.
Depending on weather, all traffic could be reinstated on the main lanes as early as Saturday, February 10.
The Texas Department of Transportation asks that motorist please drive considerately and carefully as construction employees will be working very close to traffic.
In addition, various ramps will be closed for a few weeks, as the final drainage and road work is done at these locations.
When ramps are closed, message boards will direct and inform motorists as needed.
This work is part of a $15.4 million dollar project to construct an overpass at Nantucket Drive and improve the frontage roads.
