Since 1963, Twin City Mission has called downtown Bryan home.
But in the next three years, that will all change.
Wednesday the mission staff announced it had purchased a 16 acre piece of property just a few blocks from its current location.
The plot of undeveloped land sits on West 31st Street in Bryan.
For over a year, the shelter has been working on acquiring the property, and Wednesday they shared their excitement.
"It will be so nice to have a facility that's designed to accommodate our clients and to provide the services and the facilities that this community deserves," Doug Weedon with Twin City Mission said.
Taking ownership of the property was phase one of the shelter's plan.
Phase two of the plan is garnering financial support and construction, and phase three will be providing services at the new location.
The mission hopes to have the new shelter up and running in the next three years.
