Coach Guerrieri, known to many as Coach G typically uses his skills of strategic planning and creativity to score high points on the soccer field. But for the last couple of weeks his focus has gone from the field to a special event.
The Aggie coach has been busy coordinating a charity bash for the Raulerson family. Michael and Tammy Raulerson's daughter, Tacey, has been battling cancer since she was a baby.
And ever since Coach G and his wife learned about her, they knew they wanted to do something for the family.
"My job is kind of recruiting people and arranging great people to do great things and maybe we can do a little of that for Tacey," Coach G said.
Both Texas A&M and the community have joined efforts to make the charity bash a success.
"We have not had anyone say no," Guerrieri said.
This Saturday, all proceeds from an athletic carnival, raffle, and A&M women's basketball game will go to the Raulerson family to help pay medical expenses. With so much support the bash has turned into an event that Tacey is excited about.
"I thought it was very cool because of all the things ...we were going to do and stuff," Tacey said.
The community's response has Tacey mother, Tammy, wondering if Reed Arena can hold everyone anticipated to attend.
"I going, oh my goodness, are all these people going to fit in Reed Arena," Tammy said.
Coach G said all the hard work going into Saturday's event is not just for the Raulersons.
"It might look like we're doing this for them, Guerrieri said, we are doing this for us."
Tacey's parents and Coach G said the support they are receiving matches the support Tacey gives.
"My blood is maroon," Tacey said.
The charity bash kicks off at 4:30 pm at Reed Arena. You can purchase tickets and raffle tickets by going to www.CoachG.com.
If you are not able to attend the event, but would still like to make a donation, you can by going to the same website.
