This week's resignations of Madisonville's mayor and city manager left the local government with some big holes to fill. Thursday, the city council decided to fill one on a temporary basis and leave the other vacant for now.
The council agreed to hire an interim replacement for former city manager Tom Ginter who resigned last Thursday. City leaders will work with the Texas Municipal League to compile a list of qualified candidates.
As for former Mayor Scott Singletary's position which opened up with his resignation Monday, the council decided to make do with a shorthanded council until the May elections. At that time, the position will be placed on the ballot for the year remaining on Singletary's unexpired term.
