A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Montgomery, Washington, and Waller counties until 12pm Tuesday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept through early this AM, dumping 1-3 inches of rain in one hour.
Along with the new Rudder High School, also comes the need for a new principal.
Members of the Bryan Board of Trustees voted unanimously Monday in favor of Hugh Piatt II to take over that role.
Piatt is the current associate principal at Bryan High, and has also served as the assistant principal at the school as well. Prior to his service in the Brazos Valley, Piatt also served as the High School Principal in Buffalo from 2001-2003.
Piatt attended Southern Nazarene University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master of Education-Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, and completed Superintendent Certification at Stephen F. Austin in 2004.
Rudder High School is scheduled to open in Fall 2008.
Board members did not make a decision, however, regarding the proposed middle school attendance zones. Instead, the decision was made to postpone the final decision for at least another week, due to the illness and subsequent absence of one of the members.
