A prominent car dealership with ties to a local politician is empty following a seizure by U.S. marshals.
On Monday, agents confiscated 34 vehicles from Fred Brown Tejas Mitsubishi in Bryan, along with a portion of the parts inventory, according to officials with the Houston Marshal's office.
Officials said they were acting on a writ of sequestration in a civil case filed by Mitsubishi in Houston.
Representatives for Mitsubishi wouldn't comment on the litigation.
Co owner and general manager Jeff Grisham said Thursday, he had no knowledge of the civil suit and is currently trying to sell the dealership.
His business partner, attorney Fred Bayliss said the suit stems from money owed to Mitsubishi, and the order was agreed upon pending the sale of the franchise. Bayliss said he serves as a silent partner and has no dealings with the dealership's day to day operations.
When contacted in Austin, State Representative Fred Brown said he had not heard about the seizure, and that his involvement in the business was limited to helping his business partners get started.
