He was a pastor at one of the Dallas area's largest churches. Wednesday, 53-year-old Joe Barron was in a Brazos County courtroom, accepting a plea deal for using his computer to target a 13-year-old girl for sex.

Barron pleaded guilty to four counts of online solicitation of a minor. Had Barron gone to trial, and been found guilty, could have faced two to ten years on each count. Instead, as a part of the deal, he will likely be sentenced to seven years in prison.

Last may, after numerous online chats with undercover police officers, Barron made the drive to Bryan for what he thought would be a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl. Instead, Police were waiting for him.

Inside his vehicle, next to worship albums, was a web-cam, condoms, and a phone police said had 60 other similar text conversations.

Barron resigned days later from Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, where he served as a pastor to married couples.

The 53-year-old left Brazos County a free man on Wednesday, and won't be sentenced until September 29th.

Every single religion has those who practice what they DON'T preach and abuse their position as a respected pillar of the community to do so. He might be getting off easy now, but wait till the Lord meets him at the Pearly Gates. That's when the real judgement will be handed out.

This is the reason why people don't want to go to church anymore. And if they do, it is only to up their status in society. Good leading Shepherd!

Why didnt this go to trail? He should have the max sentence! This s a Preacher we are talking about, people trusted him. If he has done this on his computer what has he done behind closed doors?? You are a very sick person and you should never be able to PREACH to any community ever again you are a disgrace.....
