Madisonville didn't have to look far to find an interim city manager. In fact the person picked already has an office at city hall.
Her name is Ruth Smith, and she's spent the past 27 years as the city's director of finance. The council cited her knowledge of the city's day-to-day operations as one of the main reasons she was chosen.
Smith will serve until the council hires a permanent replacement for Tom Ginter, who resigned last month. That search could take up to six months.
