The state of Texas covers miles and miles. And some local residents have challenged themselves to cover as much of it as they can.
Organizers and participants of "Walk Across Texas" gathered at Wolf Pen Creek Trails Saturday morning for the kick-off ceremony.
"Walk Across Texas" is an eight week free program, where teams members engage in physical activities together or individually.
Each team logs their physical activities and tries to be the first, to collect 830 miles worth of activities.
"Walk Across Texas" was started back in 1996 by the Texas Cooperative Extension as a way to encourage people to increase their level of regular physical activity.
