Last year, more than 55-thousand Brazos Valley residents needed help from a food pantry in order to put meals on the table.

To shed light on the issue of hunger, the Brazos Valley Food Bank and several other agencies across the country have designated September as Hunger Action Month.

On Wednesday September 16, the Brazos Valley Food Bank will help out a county in need with four food fairs.

"We distribute about 240,000 pounds of food a month out of the food bank throughout the Brazos Valley, but under 10% of that is going to Robertson county. So we feel like any opportunity to get more food into that county is going to help," said Theresa Mangapora of the Brazos Valley Food Bank.

The goal is to distribute more than 50,000 pounds of free food on Wednesday.
