A two-vehicle head on collision near Carlos has claimed the life of a Grimes County woman while injuring a Texas A&M University System official and his wife.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Grimes County authorities say a Chevy Cavalier on Highway 30 collided with a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Twila McGinty, 52, was the lone person in the Cavalier and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the two in the PT Cruiser, Stanton and Ann Calvert, were ejected. Stanton, the Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations with the A&M System, was taken by helicopter to Scott & White in Temple. His wife, Ann, was transported to the College Station Medical Center. Authorities say neither appeared to suffer life-threatening injuries.
Highway 30 was closed while the accident was cleared.
The DPS investigation continues into what caused the wreck.
