Frank and Bertha Cobb had lived in their rural East Texas home for more than 20 years without ever having a break-in.

Then on March 4th, 1999, they came home to find a burglar.

The burglar, Newton Anderson, says in a frenzy, the couple ended up tortured and killed.

Anderson faces a lethal injection Thursday evening for their deaths.

The 30-year-old tells The Associated Press he is guilty. But he can't explain why it all happened.

The bodies of Frank and Bertha Cobb were found in the rubble of their burned home. Authorities say Anderson torched it.

His execution would be the fifth this year in the nation's busiest capital punishment state and the first of four scheduled over the next two weeks.
