A cold front will approach the Brazos Valley later today. Isolated areas of rain and thunderstorms could develop along and ahead of that front between mid-afternoon and early evening. Good news: rain & storm activity will be quick moving (1 hour or less). Bad news: a few severe thunderstorms are possible with large hail and strong, damaging winds being the main concern. A brief, isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out, as well.
An area business received top honors at the Community Impact Awards ceremony.
The event honored African-American-owned businesses in the Twin Cities, and was put on by the local chamber of commerce.
The proud recipients of this year's prestigious honor were Kenya Myers and Georgette Kibbe-Herring of Daniel Jarvis Home Health Agency, Inc.
Just to be considered, nominees have to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce, be 51 percent minority owned, and have been in business for at least five years.
