A former A&M Consolidated student body leader and member of Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets Company E-2 was involved in car accident Friday night.
A&M sophomore Ricky Benning was hit by car while trying to help victims in another car accident.
Benning was with friends returning from a function in Houston on Highway 290 around 10:45 p.m. when they came upon a wreck. When Benning got out of his vehicle to help, he was hit by another car.
Authorities said Benning had to be air-lifted to Hermann Hospital in Houston. He was admitted into a critical care unit. Saturday evening, hospital officials said he was moved from that unit to an intermediate area. He was last listed in fair condition.
