The birthplace of Texas celebrated the state's 171st birthday Sunday afternoon.
Folks visiting Washington-on-the-Brazos were able to take a step back into the history books as the park was transformed into a page right out of the 1800's.
The celebration included costumed performers, period-appropriate crafts and a rare glimpse at one of the few remaining broadsides of the Texas Declaration of Independence at the The Star of the Republic Museum.
Featured guests at the event included U. S. Congress Michael McCaul,
State Representative Lois W. Kolkhorst, and Mr. Sam Houston IV.
The event also featured some great music, and came with a Texas-sized birthday cake for all to enjoy.
