Jewett Police Department says around 10 a.m. Friday the owner of John's Glamour Spa in downtown Jewett was tied up, beaten, and robbed at gunpoint. The business located on Highway 79 also offers check cashing.

The owner of the business told police a Hispanic male entered the business and pulled a gun. A few moments later a second Hispanic knocked the owner down, and tied him up. Police say an unknown amount of cash and personal items were stolen. The owner described the suspect with the gun as a Hispanic male with bushy hair and a mustache. The owner said the suspect was about 5'6" to 5'7". The suspect was last seen wearing a cap, a white shirt with blue stripes and jeans.

A description on the second suspect is not available.

The business owner suffered a contusion on his left arm, but officials say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Jewett Police Department, Leon County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Rangers are investigating this incident.

News 3 will have more details as they become available.

Why no BCS reports on Crime? We had two people shoot in Bryan at a bar and no news of it.

Check Cashing Business? Could these criminals be the same scumbags who robbed and killed the liquor store owner (check cashing) in Navasota? I hope the person that was beaten will be okay. He is lucky that he did not get killed. I hope LE catches these dangerous scumbags! KBTX, could you please follow-up with the Navasota Police Dept. to determine the status of the case in Navasota? Is it considered a cold case? I have not heard anything on that case in a long time. Thank you, KBTX!
