The leader of the New Black Panther Party of Houston is coming to the Brazos Valley on Monday.

Quanell X tells News 3 he's staging a peaceful rally in Hearne because it's time someone stepped up to mobilize and organize the town's African American population. The community activist says Hearne and Robertson County have a terrible history of injustices against minorities and if the people don't unite soon, those injustices will continue.

He also says law enforcement authorities have allowed murder cases to go unsolved and cites the murder of Pasadena native, Hank Johnson. More than a year ago, Johnson suffered severe head trauma when he was brutally beaten in Hearne and died eleven days later from his injuries. According to Quanell X, the crime is one of many mishandled by city and county law enforcement officials.

Robertson County's District Attorney, John Paschall, says his office has continuously worked to solve the Johnson murder and questions Quanell X's motives for coming to Hearne.

Paschall says, "I think we've had people who have stirred the pot so the speak concerning some of the cases and have made allegations that are half truths, not truthful at all, that's all I can think of."

Monday's Unification Rally begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at St. Mary's Parish Hall located at 400 West First Street in Hearne.

Hank Johnson's death has changed my destiny and now I vow to investigate and demand every last one responsible for his death to jail. So you can run and you can hide but all lost can be found and luck always runs out! The longer you wait to tell the truth the longer you will spend in jail.
