A relative says the woman who is accused of abducting a newborn from a Texas hospital recently suffered her second miscarriage.
Rayshaun Parson's great aunt says Parson had become so depressed that family members barely recognized her.
Her attorney says the 21-year-old has tried to commit suicide more than once since she was arrested Sunday.
Parson is accused of posing as a hospital worker and taking a three-day-old girl from a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. The girl was found safe the next day in Clovis, New Mexico, about 100 miles away.
Parson is jailed in Texas pending a detention hearing Friday.
The attorney says Parson has attempted suicide by swallowing two latex gloves and part of a notebook and by taking pills.
