COLLEGE STATION- Saturday's party carried over into Sunday. A vocal crowd gathered on the Texas A&M campus to welcome the Aggie football team home from Lubbock at about one a.m. Sunday.
Hugs and handshakes abounded for players, coaches and fans. Head coach Mike Sherman posed with the class of 1969.
The reason for the revelry, the Ags' 52-to-30 win over Texas Tech. The green eye shade squadron of the Texas A&M Sports Information Department has come up with this week's numbers of note.
Most Points Ever for Aggies vs. Texas Tech --- The 52 point outburst by the Aggies was the most points ever scored by A&M against Texas Tech -- home or away . The previous high point game for A&M in Lubbock was 38 in 1975 and 1961. The previous high point total in the series was 50 in a 50-15 victory in College Station in 1988. ***** The 52 points were also the most scored by A&M against a ranked opponent since the Aggies 65-14 win over No. 13 BYU in the 1990 Holiday Bowl.
First Victory Over Ranked Opponent for Sherman --- Tonight’s 52-30 victory over the No. 21 Red Raiders was the first victory over a ranked team for second-year Aggie head coach Mike Sherman. It was A&M’s first win over a ranked foe since beating No. 12 Texas at Kyle Field, 38-30, in 2007 and the first road win over a ranked opponent since a 12-7 victory over the No. 11 Longhorns in Austin in 2006.
Winning in Lubbock --- The Aggies won in Lubbock for the first time since 1993, when Mike Sherman was prowling the sideline as A&M’s offensive line coach. Tonight’s win also broke a four-game losing streak to the Red Raiders.
Two 100-Yard Rushers for Aggies --- Sophomore Cyrus Gray and freshman Christine Michael both logged the first 100-yard rushing games of their careers against Texas Tech. Gray rushed for 131 yards on 25 carries, while Michael added 121 yards on 22 carries. It was the first time A&M has a pair of rushers over 100 yards since 2007 when quarterback Stephen McGee and running back Jorvorskie Lane did it three times. The last time A&M had two running backs over 100 in the same game was 2003 when Derek Farmer and Courtney Lewis did it againswt Baylor.
Season High/Season Low --- The Aggies rushed for a season-high 321 yards and passed for a season-low 238 yards for a healthy day of 559 yards of total offense on 87 plays. The previous high rushing game of the season was 251 against Utah State, and the previous passing low was 273 vs. Oklahoma State. It was the most rushing yards by the Aggies since posting 359 yards against Nebraska in Lincoln in 2007.
Turnover Advantage for Aggies --- The victims of a season-high five turnovers (with no takeaways) last week against Kansas State, the Aggies turned the tables on the Red Raiders with five takeaways and only one give-away. Usually a good indicator of the Aggies’ success, A&M improved to 21-5 in games with the turnover advantage since 2005.
Aggies Grab Two Pickoffs in First Half --- The Aggie defense ended two of the Red Raiders’ first half drives with interceptions. Linebacker Garrick Williams reeled in a Taylor Potts floater in the first quarter, and then cornerback Terrence Frederick ended Tech’s last gasp second quarter drive with a pickoff in the endzone. In the first half alone, the Aggies matched their season total, and Frederick’s INT was the first of the season for the Aggie defensive backs. The Aggies finished the night with two pickoffs.
Another Freshman Hits the Field --- Punter Ryan Epperson became the 18th freshman and 19th member of Mike Sherman’s 2009 signing class to see action in 2009. The 18 true freshmen is a school record, breaking the old mark of 16 true freshmen played by the 1980 Aggie squad. Epperson responded to his first action with a 38.2 average on four punts.
No. 40 for Johnson --- Junior quarterback Jerrod Johnson’s first-quarter touchdown pass to Cyrus Gray was the 40th passing touchdown of his career. He becomes the fifth Aggie quarterback with 40 or more, joining Kevin Murray (48), Corey Pullig (47), Reggie McNeal (44) and Edd Hargett (40).
5,000 for Johnson --- Johnson hit another milestone when he became the eighth player and seventh quarterback to surpass the 5,000-yard level in career total offense. Johnson amassed 309 yards against the Red Raiders (238 passing, 71 rushing) and now has 5,074 total yards for his career. The other Aggies in the 5,000-yard club are quarterbacks Reggie McNeal, Corey Pullig, Stephen McGee, Kevin Murray, Edd Hargett and Bucky Richardson. Darren Lewis is the lone running back with more than 5,000 career yards.
Miscellaneous
• Game captains were junior Jerrod Johnson (offense), junior Von Miller (defense) and sophomore Lionel Smith (special teams).
• Senior running back Ryan O’Bryant (Houston, Texas) represented the student body today for the second time this seson as the 12th Man ... O’Bryant wore the #12 jersey twice last season, against Texas Tech and at Iowa State, and previously this season against Oklahoma State.
• Sophomore wide receiver Jeff Fuller returned to action after missing the previous four games due to a broken leg. He contributed one catch for 12 yards and drew a pass interference penalty in the endzone.

One thing to say to all Ags: Great win! Enjoy your victory and can't wait for the next game! Gig 'Em
People usually make negative comments to make THEMSELVES look/feel better because they "lack" some positive quality. I'm guessing they are closet Aggie wanna-be's. Good goin' Ags - keep it up!
