He's attacked eight women in their homes and attempted to rob and rape them. Investigators have his DNA, but don't know his identity. Now, the Leon County Sheriff's Office wants to make sure everyone in the county is on the same page about a serial rapist.

Tuesday, county investigators met with the county's smaller police departments. Next Monday, November 2, the department is holding a public meeting at the Leon County Courthouse in an effort to prevent another woman from being attacked.

With festive goblins and ghouls on display, homes in Centerville are decorated for Halloween. When the sun goes down residents know there is a very real predator on the loose. A predator one might watch on a big-city television crime drama, but instead is playing out in this rural community.

"We're not used to this kind of stuff this close to home, and it's getting too close to home now," said Joe Wilburn.

Wilburn's neighbor became the 8th victim of what investigators believe to be a serial rapist; a rapist targeting older women who live alone.

"He was on his knees by her bed is what she said. He touched her, she said 'I have a gun,'" said Wilburn.

Despite the man cutting the 88-year-old woman's phone line and unscrewing the bulb in her lamp, Wilburn's neighbor made it out of her home unscathed. She was able to tell her story Tuesday at the Centerville Senior Citizen's Center.

"She just told all of us she was shocked at herself how she did," said Wilburn.

Despite eight attacks in four counties, no one has gotten a good look at the suspect. Leaving the possibility that the Halloween decorations could come down before a dangerous character is off the streets.

Because the suspect has tried to break in and disable phone lines a few weeks before he attacks, Leon County Investigators have asked anyone who may have had a phone line tampered with in the last year to contact them. They said they've already received several calls from senior women who fit the pattern of victims, and investigators are keeping a close watch on those homes.

The public meeting is Monday, Nov 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Leon County Courthouse, in Centerville.

One post comments about the meeting being held earlier in the day. I agree with this, however, if anyone has been to the Leon County Courthouse (restored) there is very little to NO PARKING ROOM around the square during regular office hours...and to for the people that work 8 to 5 it would probably be impossible for them to attend. I'm sure lawenforcemengt thought this out prior to setting the meeting at this time.

This sick pervert may have had some serious childhood experiences and he is seeking revenge on the elderly. Many times this is the case with someone such as this. He is one screwed up person. I hope he is reading all the news and comments about these incidents.....cause "they gonna get ya" sicko, you're messing with the WRONG COUNTY.
