We told you about the woman who was sent to jail on her sixth DWI offense. Now, a Bryan man has been arrested on his sixth drunk driving charge.
According to police reports, 54-year-old Juan Jesus Ruiz rear-ended another vehicle Tuesday near Finfeather and Villa Maria in Bryan. When officers arrived on scene and approached Ruiz to see if he was okay they smelled alcohol on his breath.
Ruiz told police he'd had a couple of beers earlier after work. After taking several field sobriety tests, which police say he failed, Ruiz refused to give a breath sample.
But officers arrested him based on what they'd seen. After Ruiz was booked they learned he had five prior DWI convictions between 1973 and 1981. Ruiz has bonded out of jail.

What amazes me is the state actually let both of these habitual offenders get their license back. Maybe they should check into harsher laws against these type of people. Obviously jail time hasn't stopped them nor has counceling.
let him who drinks and drive rot in jail
We need more neighborhood bars so these habitual drunks can walk from their house to the corner bar and not drive.
